Someday it Won’t Be Today

Someday it won’t be today.

Someday it will be okay.

No, someday it will be fucking great,

Because someday I won’t be so hard on me,

Someday I’ll finally see

That it’s okay just to be me.

Perfection sold in a box,

Or on TV,

I should look or act a certain way,

But then I just feel so damn fake—

Nothing ever feels natural to me.

Someday it will be okay.

No, someday it will be fucking great,

Because someday I won’t be so hard on me,

Someday I’ll set myself free,

Free to just be me.

All the cooler kids are doing it,

Smoking, drinking like it’s all legit.

I don’t even like the taste, but if

It makes me seem cool, maybe just a sip?

Oh fuck, I don’t need this shit.

Someday it will be okay.

No, someday it will be fucking great,

Because someday I won’t care if I was cool at sixteen.

Someday I’ll thank myself for today.

And someday it won’t be today.

Someday it will be fucking great,

Because you made it through your teenage hell

To become the hero of tomorrow’s youth.
